ear notching Cutting notches into an animal's ears for identification purposes.
earthworm

Any of various worms that burrow into and help aerate and enrich the soil.

ecology The relationships between organisms and their environments.
ecosystem A system of relationships between organisms and their environment.
ecotone A transitional area between two types of vegetation.
edible Fit to be eaten.
efficient Acting or producing effectively with a minimum of waste, expense, or unnecessary effort.
egg The round or oval female reproductive body of various animals, consisting usually of an embryo surrounded by nutrient material and a protective covering.
embryo An organism in its early stages of development, before it has reached a distinctively recognizable form.
emulsifier A substance with the ability to suspend small globules of one liquid in a second liquid with which the first will not mix.
emu A large, flightless Australian bird related to and resembling the ostrich and the cassowary.
encyclopedia A comprehensive reference work containing articles on a wide range of subjects or on numerous aspects of a particular field, usually arranged alphabetically.
end product The result of a completed series of processes or changes.
endosperm The nutritive portion of a seed.
energy A source of usable power, such as petroleum or coal.
enthusiast A person who is intensely involved with a particular subject.
environment The total of all external conditions which act upon an organism or community of organisms to influence development or existence.
Environmental Protection Agency Federal agency involved in protection of the environment.
enzyme Any of numerous proteins or conjugated proteins produced by living organisms and functioning as biochemical catalysts.
erode To wear away by wind, water or other forms of abrasion.
Etruscans People who lived in ancient Etruria, in what is now Tuscany and parts of Umbria in western Italy.
ewe A female sheep.
excrete To eliminate waste matter from the blood, tissues or organs.
exoskeleton The external protective or supporting structure of many invertebrates, such as insects or crustaceans.
expand Grow larger.
expenses Money that is paid out; a cost.
experiment The process of conducting a test.
export To send or carry a commodity abroad for sale or trade.
